The ITA Tunnelling Awards 2016: The list of finalists disclosed
Lausanne, 25th of July, 2016.- On November 10th and 11th 2016, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association is presenting the second edition of its ITA Tunnelling Awards. This international competition recognizes and rewards the most ground-breaking achievements and innovations in underground infrastructure worldwide.

Following a very successful 2015 edition, participation has been highly competitive this year, with 98 entries from 25 countries competing for awards in nine categories. The 17-strong expert judging panel, chaired by the ITA President Tarcisio Celestino, concluded the review of entries last week. Based on their detailed evaluation, 33 entries have been
selected as finalists and will participate in the second evaluation stage to determine winners.

After careful consideration of all 98 entries, the judges of the ITA Tunnelling Awards identified the most remarkable contributions from around the world:

For the category Major Project of the Year with a budget over 500 M€:

The ITA Tunnelling Awards in Singapore:

In addition to the November 11th one-day ITA Tunnelling Awards Conference and Banquet Dinner, organized by the ITA , during which the awards will be presented, a one-day Symposium on underground development and technology, featuring 8 outstanding keynote lectures, is organized on November 10th by the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Society, Singapore (TUCSS).

At the crossroads of technology and sustainability, this symposium will focus on reinventing urban planning, anticipating urban expansion and building cities of the future through combining mechanization and renewable resources. These lectures will provide a unique forum to discover, share and learn about state-of-the-art developments and latest initiatives from all over the world.

The symposium, conference, and banquet, will take place at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Conference Centre.
